Barry Makes 12 Saves in Loss
CHESTERTOWN, Md. -- Visiting Muhlenberg College made a 10th-minute goal stand up in a 1-0 Centennial Conference women's soccer victory over host Washington College this afternoon. The Mules improved to 7-3-2 overall and 3-2 in Centennial Conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen fell to 3-7-1 and 0-4 with the loss.
Muhlenberg's Taylor Pini scored the only goal of the game when she received a cross through the box from Colleen Touhey and placed the ball into the opposite corner at 9:40.
After the Mules held a 14-0 advantage in shots in the first half, the Shorewomen got off four shots in the second half to Muhlenberg's 13. Touhey tallied a game-high 10 shots for Muhlenberg in the game.
Sophomore goalkeeper Melissa Barry (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) made 12 saves in the loss for the Shorewomen, while Jen Mermelstein made two stops in the shutout win for Muhlenberg. The Mules recorded the only three corner kicks of the game.
The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 4:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Bryn Mawr.
