Shorewomen Turn Aggies Away in 2-0 Win

Silva, Harrington Score for Shorewomen

CHESTERTOWN, Md. -- Freshman midfielder/forward Emani Silva (Odenton, Md./Arundel) and freshman forward/midfielder Maribeth Harrington (Silver Spring, Md./Academy of the Holy Cross) each scored one goal as the host Washington College women's soccer team posted a 2-0 non-conference win over visiting Delaware Valley College this afternoon.

Silva provided the only offense of the first half, scoring from 20 yards out by placing the ball into the opposite lower corner of the net after receiving a pass from sophomore midfielder/defender Kelsey McCurdy (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) at 40:22. The Shorewomen (3-5-1) finished the half with a 4-3 advantage in shots.

Washington got off 13 shots in the second half to seven for the Aggies (3-6-1) and got an insurance goal when Silva sent a corner kick into the box to Harrington who sent the ball off the post and into the upper near corner for her first collegiate goal at 84:40. 

The Shorewomen held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks in the game. Sophomore goalkeeper Melissa Barry (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) made seven saves for the Shorewomen en route to her 10th career shutout, extending her own school record. Shayna Schaeffer made six saves in the loss for Delaware Valley.

The Shorewomen return to action one week from today with a 7:00 p.m. non-conference game at Elizabethtown.
