RADNOR, Pa. -- Host Cabrini College improved to 1-1 on the season with a 3-0 win over visiting Washington College in non-conference women's soccer action this afternoon in Radnor, Pa.
The Cavaliers, the reigning Colonial States Athletic Conference Champions, got on the board just 68 seconds into the game when Melissa Scanzano scored an unassisted goal. Cabrini added to its lead at the 21:54 mark when Julianna Ardire assisted on a goal by Devon Miller. Taylor Tralie completed the scoring with a penalty kick goal at 85:54.
Cabrini held a 17-11 advantage in shots in the game, but held just an 8-7 margin at halftime. The Shorewomen (1-1) got off the final shot on goal of the contest when freshman forward/midfielder Hayley Hartman (Sykesville, Md./Liberty) had her shot saved by Cabrini goalkeeper Alivia Dietsch.
Dietsch made six saves in the shutout win, while sophomore goalkeeper Melissa Barry (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) made seven stops in the loss for Washington.The Shorewomen recorded the game's only two corner kicks, both in the second half.
The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. game at Widener.
