HAVERFORD, Pa. -- Host Haverford College defeated visiting Washington College, 4-0, in a Centennial Conference women's soccer game this afternoon in Haverford, Pa. The Fords improved to 11-4 overall and 5-3 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen slipped to 4-9-2 and 1-7 with the loss.
The Fords did all of their offensive damage in the first half. Meg Boyer opened the scoring with an unassisted goal at 13:48. Boyer scored again, this time on a header, at the 24:41 mark off a cross from Isabella Bertagna. Haverford got its third goal just 1:14 later as Mariah Baker scored off an assist from Connie Friedman at 25:55. Sophie Eiger capped off the scoring at 32:17 when she scored on a rebound after a shot by Larisa Antonisse was saved by Washington freshman goalkeeper Melissa Barry (Sparta, N.J./Sparta).
The Fords enjoyed a 19-2 advantage in shots in the game and recorded all six of the contest's corner kicks. Robin Chernow played the first 67:36 in goal for Haverford and did not need to make a save. Kathy Prescott played the remainder of the game and made one stop.
The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 4:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against McDaniel.
