CHESTERTOWN, Md. -- Visiting Dickinson College improved to 6-5-2 overall and 2-2-2 in Centennial Conference play with a 3-0 Centennial Conference women's soccer victory over host Washington College this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Shorewomen fell to 4-6-2 and 1-4 with the loss.
The only scoring of the first half was provided by Rosalin Savoie. Savoie had a shot stopped right off her foot by freshman goalkeeper Melissa Barry (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) but gathered the rebound and scored into the opposite corner before Barry could get back in net to give the Red Devils the 1-0 lead at the 18:01 mark. Dickinson held a 7-1 advantage in shots in the first half.
Olivia Licata scored both second-half goals for Dickinson, 3:56 apart. Savoie set up the first Licata goal, sending a long pass ahead to Chelsea Johnson, who then passed the ball into the box where it was headed in by Licata at 54:49. Licata's second goal came at 58:45 when she received a pass into the box and then beat a Washington defender before firing the ball into the back of the net.
The Red Devils finished the game with a 19-5 advantage in shots and a 5-2 edge in corner kicks. Charlotte Armour played the first 61:12 in goal for Dickinson and did not need to make a save. Deanna Ballard made two saves in the final 28:48 for the Red Devils. Freshman goalkeeper Melissa Barry (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) made six saves for the Shorewomen in the loss. Junior forward Suzanne Patinella (Fallston, Md./Maryvale Prep) was the only Shorewoman with multiple shots in the game, tallying two.
The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 4:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Ursinus.
