HAVERFORD, PA -- Host Haverford College outshot visiting Washington College, 32-6, en route to a 6-0 Centennial Conference women's soccer victory this afternoon on Walton Field.
The Fords (12-3-1, 6-2-1 Centennial) scored three times in the first 20 minutes of play. Allie Chen started things off with a high shot from 20 yards out at 9:49. Phoebe Miller then scored off a Hannah Davis assist at 17:34 and Mariah Baker scored on a 20-yard shot off an Elizabeth Newman assist at 18:55. Haverford tacked on its fourth goal of the first half when Isabella Bertagna finished off a loose ball in front of the net at 30:22.
Miller scored her second goal of the game, this one off an assist from Connie Friedman at 58:12 and Jo Haller scored off a Lexi Williams assist at 69:04 to provide the second-half scoring.
Robin Chernow started the game in goal for Haverford and made three saves in 65:36. Alana Thurston played the rest of the game in net for the Fords and made one save.
Sophomore goalkeeper Rebecca Potochney (Newark, DE/Newark) made seven saves for the Shorewomen (6-8-1, 2-6-1), who got a team-best two shots each from sophomore midfielder/forward Suzanne Patinella (Fallston, MD/Maryvale Prep) and senior defender Gabby Antalffy (Baltimore, MD/Sparrows Point).
The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with their season finale, a 4:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against McDaniel.
