LANCASTER, PA -- Washington College sophomore goalkeeper Rebecca Potochney (Newark, DE/Newark) has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week for women's soccer for the week ending October 21st. Potochney made 15 saves and did not allow a goal in 200 minutes of action in a 1-0-1 week for the Shorewomen.
Potochney made nine saves in a 1-0 win over Ursinus Wednesday, the Shorewomen's first over the Bears since 2002. She then made six stops in a scoreless double-overtime tie at Franklin & Marshall Saturday, recording her school-record fourth solo shutout of the season.
Potochney was playing for the first time in 11 days when she faced Ursinus; she had suffered an injury during the second half of the Shorewomen's game at Muhlenberg on October 6th.
