Bradley, Antalffy, Fili Score for Shorewomen
WILKES-BARRE, PA -- Visiting Washington College picked up its first win of the season tonight as the Shorewomen topped host King's College, 3-0, in a non-conference women's soccer game in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
The Shorewomen (1-4) took a 1-0 lead at 24:00 when junior forward Katie Bradley (Havre de Grace, MD/Fallston) scored on a penalty kick.
Washington added to its lead at 52:56 when junior defender Gabby Antalffy (Baltimore, MD/Sparrows Point) headed in a free kick from sophomore midfielder/forward Heather Smith (Glen Burnie, MD/Glen Burnie). The Shorewomen tacked on their third goal at 83:45 when freshman defender Mickey Fili (Sparks, MD/Hereford) netted her first collegiate goal, sending the ball into the upper-left corner from 30 yards out.
Washington fired off 19 shots in the game, limiting the Lady Monarchs (1-4) to just one shot in the sixth minute of the game. The Shorewomen also held a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks in the game. Lauren Duguid made 10 saves in the loss for King's, while Washington senior goalkeeper Tori Ripple (Baltimore, MD/John Carroll) saved the Lady Monarchs' lone shot.
The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 4:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Bryn Mawr.
