CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Fifth-ranked Johns Hopkins scored four times in the first half en route to a 5-0 win over host Washington College in the Centennial Conference women's soccer opener for both schools this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Blue Jays remained unbeaten at 6-0 with the win, while the Shorewomen fell to 0-4 with the loss.
Hopkins scored on its first three shots of the game, all in transition, in a span of less than 10 minutes. Erica Suter found Paulina Goodman in the box for a goal at 4:43 and then assisted on a goal by Sydney Teng at 11:04. Suter gave the Blue Jays a three-goal lead, scoring off an assist by Ava Scheininger at 14:26. Hopkins upped its lead to 4-0 when Kelly Baker scored off an assist from Taylor Schulte at 30:41.
The only Blue Jay goal of the second half came early in the period when Jessica Hnatiuk assisted on a goal by Laura Moody at 47:58.
Hopkins finished with a 13-4 advantage in shots and a 5-1 margin in corner kicks in the game.
The Shorewomen are back in action Monday with a 7:00 p.m. non-conference game at King's (PA).
