Ripple Makes 11 Saves In Season Finale
CHESTERTOWN, MD – Visiting Dickinson College got a goal each in both halves, as the Red Devils downed host Washington College, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference women's soccer action at Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Red Devils, who will host next weekend's semifinals and final as the top seed, improve to 14-2-1 overall and finish 9-1 in conference play, while the Shorewomen drop to 4-11-1 and 0-10 respectively.
Dickinson got onto the board at the 37:53 mark of the first half when Samantha Friday scored on a rebound off of a saved shot taken by Chelsey Laughinghouse.
Genevieve Olson struck 1:53 into the second half when she received a long ground pass from Olivia Licata and slipped it into the lower left corner from the right side.
Dickinson held an 18-8 edge in shots in the contest. Junior goalkeeper Tori Ripple (Baltimore, MD/John Carroll) stopped 11 shots for Washington, while Annie Weichert tallied five saves for Dickinson. Both sides had three corner kicks each in the match.
Four seniors played in their final match today for the Shorewomen, midfielder Katelyn Malchester (Millersville, MD/Old Mill), midfielder Quinn Cowley (Clarksville, MD/Atholton), midfielder Katie Weida (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Country Day) and defender Becca Nicely (Baltimore, MD/Institute of Notre Dame).
