CHESTERTOWN, Md. — Washington College head women's rowing coach Kari Hughes has been named the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference (MARC) Women's Coach of the Year in a vote conducted by the conference's head coaches.
Hughes led the Shorewomen to the their seventh consecutive MARC Championship as the Shorewomen won both the first and second varsity eights by comfortable margins at Saturday's 2019 MARC Championships. The first varsity eight won its heat by 12.25 seconds and its grand final by 12.00 seconds, while the second varsity eight won its heat by 44 seconds and its final by 16.40 seconds.
With the MARC Championship, the Shorewomen also secured their seventh consecutive bid to the NCAA Division III Championship which will be held May 31st and June 1st in Indianapolis.
