PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — The 14th-ranked Washington College women's rowing team opened its spring racing schedule today at the Murphy Cup in Philadelphia. The Shorewomen's first varsity eight finished fourth in the Division II/III women's varsity eight.
How It Happened
- The Shorewomen were second in their heat in 7:11.55 to advance to the grand final. Franklin & Marshall's first varsity eight won the heat in 7:06.30. Fifth-ranked Wesleyan's second varsity eight was third in 7:13.38, Division II Charleston (W.V.) was fourth in 7:17.32, and Bryn Mawr's second varsity eight was fifth in 8:16.12.
- In the grand final, Philadelphia U., Division II's eighth-ranked team, won in 7:04.49. The second varsity eight from second-ranked Bates was second in 7:12.68, while F&M's first varsity eight was third in 7:12.87. The Shorewomen were fourth in 7:13.24, while Bryn Mawr's first varsity eight was fifth in 7:19.78. The second varsity eight from fifth-ranked Wesleyan was sixth in 7:24.96.
