GOLD RIVER, Calif. -- Washington College sophomore rower Madeleine Morrissette (Arlington, Mass./Arlington) was announced as the winner of the NCAA's Elite 89 Award for Division III Rowing at today's NCAA Rowing Championship Banquet.
The NCAA Elite 89 Awards are presented to the student-athlete, in at least his or her second year of competition, with the highest cumulative grade-point average competing in each NCAA Championship. Morrissette, a Biology major, currently has a cumulative grade-point average of 3.959.
Morrissette sits in the four seat of the Shorewomen's first varsity eight, which will begin competition at its third consecutive NCAA Championship regatta tomorrow. She was named to the 2015 Academic All-Mid Atlantic Rowing Conference (MARC) Team and to the 2014 All-MARC Novice Team. She is a two-sport student-athlete who also competes for the Washington College women's swim team.
