CHESTERTOWN, Md. -- The Washington College women's rowing team is ranked fifth in the 2015 CRCA/USRowing Division III Preseason Poll. The poll ranks the top 15 teams nationally in the division.
The Shorewomen are coming off their second consecutive Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference Championship and second consecutive berth in the NCAA Division III Championships, where they placed sixth last season. The Shorewomen welcome back no fewer than 15 rowers and one coxswain who competed in either their first or second eight at last year's MARC Championships and/or NCAA Division III Championships. Headlining that group is two-time first-team All-American senior Mickey Fili (Sparks, Md./Hereford).
Defending NCAA Division III Champion Trinity (Conn.) tops the preseason ranking, followed by Bates, Wellesley, and Williams in second, third, and fourth respectively. The Shorewomen will open their spring racing season with a home regatta against Wellesley March 28th. Fellow MARC school Marietta is ranked 11th in the poll, while another MARC school - Franklin & Marshall - received two vote-points.
