CENTERVILLE, MA -- Washington College rower and rising junior Mickey Fili (Sparks, MD/Hereford) has been named to the All-ECAC National Invitational Rowing (NIRC) Championship Team.
Fili, who was also named to the All Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference (MARC) Team last month, sat in the five seat of the Shorewomen's first varsity eight at the ECAC NIRC, which was held May 12th in Worcester, MA. The Shorewomen's first varsity eight placed third of seven boats in its heat and third of six boats in the petite final to place ninth of 21 boats overall. The regatta featured 13 of Division III's 15 nationally-ranked teams, including the Shorewomen who were ranked 10th at the time and have since moved up to eight.
The Shorewomen, champions of the MARC, will compete at the NCAA Division III Championships in Indianapolis next Friday and Saturday. It is the first full-team bid to the championships in team history. The varsity eight received at-large boat bids in 2007 and 2009.
