CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Washington College seniors Kelsie Jensen (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) and Kendall Mulligan (Southbury, CT/Westover School) have earned All Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference (MARC) varsity honors, while freshman Kelly Bird (Galloway, NJ/Absegami) was named to the All-MARC novice team. Jensen and Mulligan were also among the six Shorewomen to earn MARC Academic All-Conference honors.
Jensen was the coxswain of the Shorewomen's varsity eight, which finished second at today's MARC Championships. Mulligan, a repeat All-MARC selection, sat in the seven seat of that boat, while Bird was the stroke.
Jensen and Mulligan each earned MARC Academic All-Conference honors for the second straight year. Junior Rachel Benders (Cleveland Heights, OH/Beaumont School) earned that distinction for the second year in a row, while sophomores Carly Ogren (Burke, VA/Lake Braddock), Emily Sahadeo (College Park, MD/Elizabeth Seton), and Abigail Thomas (Hughesville, MD/Thomas Stone) were first-time qualifiers for Academic All-Conference.
The All-MARC teams were selected based upon nominations by the student-athletes' respective head coaches. To qualify for the MARC Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes must a) have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5, b) be in their second, third, or fourth year of eligibility, and c) must have competed in 75% of the varsity competitions or competed in the MARC Championships.
