Four Shorewomen Named CRCA Scholar-Athletes

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Washington College rowers Christine Lynch (Lincoln University, PA/Avon Grove)Kelsie Jensen (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest)Kendall Mulligan (Southbury, CT/Westover School), and Rachel Benders (Cleveland Heights, OH/Beaumont School) have been named College Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Division III National Scholar-Athletes for the 2010-11 season.

The National Scholar-Athlete Award is designed to recognize the outstanding academic accomplishments of female rowers and coxswains. The criteria include participating in their second, third, or fourth year of eligibility, participating in her institution's NCAA or IRA eligible boat(s) for a minimum of 75% of the current spring races or racing in a regional conference event, and a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher through the fall semester of the current season.

Lynch, who graduated from Washington College on Sunday, is a three-time honoree.  Jensen and Mulligan, who will be seniors in the fall is a repeat honoree. Benders, who will be a junior in the fall, is a first-time Scholar-Athlete.
