CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Washington College trap and skeet (WCTS) head coach Doug Pfaff has announced the addition of JD Whitt to the WCTS coaching staff as an assistant coach. Whitt will focus primarily on the trap portion of the team.
Whitt, a 2014 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, was a four year member of the trap and skeet team at Navy in addition to being a member of the high power rifle team that competed at the national level. Whitt began his shooting career at the age of 15 on his high school JROTC team in West Virginia that competed in the sported division.
Pfaff is excited for his addition to the coaching staff as he has volunteered with the program in the past as he has helped out at the ACUI Championships.
"JD has decided to bring his high focus and determination for greatness to the flock," mentions Pfaff. "JD's main passion is trap and along with his dedication and strife for greatness as a shooter, he brings the patience and willingness to continue our sport and help present and future WCTS athletes to grow."
WCTS will travel to Glenn Dale, Md. this Saturday and Sunday for the ACUI Upper East Coast Conference Championships. This is the regional conference qualifier for the ACUI Collegiate Clay Target Championships, to be held in March in San Antonio, Texas. Individual results at the Upper East Coast Conference Championships will determine which class each WCTS student-athlete will compete in at the ACUI Collegiate Clay Target Championships.
