HAVERFORD, Pa. — Due to potential Centennial Conference Tournament implications, the Washington College softball team will resume two games that currently stand as ties this afternoon at Haverford College.
Haverford and Washington College played to a 4-4 tie through five innings back on April 2nd before darkness ended the game. That game will be resumed at Haverford today at 4:30 p.m. to determine a winner. Yesterday, Washington College played visiting Swarthmore to a 3-3 tie into the top of the 10th before darkness ended the game. That game will be resumed at Haverford today at 6 p.m. to determine a winner.
By conference rule, tied games must have a winner determined if it impacts qualification or hosting rights for the Centennial Conference Tournament. Haverford is currently in second place in the conference standings and has another tie currently on the books (against Gettysburg). Swarthmore is currently in fourth place in the conference standings and also must resume a game against Ursinus that was halted in the fifth inning earlier this season. The top four teams in the regular-season conference standings qualify for the Centennial Conference Tournament.
