WC Sailing Places 7th at Nevins Trophy

Performance is Team's Best at Regatta in 15 Years

KINGS POINT, N.Y. — The Washington College sailing team finished seventh of 18 teams at the Nevins Trophy, hosted by Merchant Marine, this weekend. It was the team's best finish at the Nevins Trophy since 2004 when Washington placed fifth of 20 teams.

Washington College Highlights
- Skipper Stewart Gurnell and crew Andrew Tran finished fifth in A Division. They placed in the top five in 10 of the division's 16 races and won race 14A.
- Skipper Andrew Vernon and crew Jon Kelly placed ninth in B Division. They posted second-place finishes in races 5B and 7B.

Notes
- Hobart/William Smith won the Nevins Trophy, followed by Cornell in second and host Merchant Marine in third.
- Ten races in each division sailed on Saturday. Six more races in each division sailed on Sunday.
