Sunday Racing Called Off Due to Lack of Wind

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The Washington College sailing team finished eighth of eight teams in its Tom Noble Team Race this weekend on the Chester River. The regatta was scheduled as a two-day event, but Sunday's races were called off due to lack of wind after a lengthy delay.

Junior skipper Mike Whitford (Chicago, IL/Francis W. Parker School) and senior crew Max Kurland (Sharon, CT/Hotchkiss School), junior skipper Mildred Conroy (Newtown, MA/Tabor Academy) and sophomore crew Matt Lawler (Alexandria, VA/Christchurch School), and freshman skipper Sam Fitzgerald (Fairfield, CT/Green Farms Academy) and freshman crew PJ Miller (Lawrenceville, NJ/Notre Dame) sailed for Washington, which finished with a 1-6 record.

Boston University won the regatta, followed by Rhode Island in second place.

The Washington College sailing team will compete at the Graham Hall Team Race, hosted by Navy, next weekend.
