Division II Huskies Narrowly Defeat Shoremen, 5-4

Shoremen Endure First Loss of Season

ORLANDO, Fla. — It took a Division II team to hand the Washington College men's tennis team its first loss of the season today as Bloomsburg University handed the Shoremen a 5-4 setback in a match played in Orlando, Fla. The Shoremen dropped to 3-1 this season with the loss, while the Huskies improved to 1-4 with their first win.

Bloomsburg 5, Washington College 4

- The Huskies posted a convincing win at No. 1 as Gerard Puig and Steve Williams were 8-1 winners over Chris Salisbury and Jake Sandler. Bloomsburg also won at No. 3 where Pablo Herrero and Christian Cioffi topped Jeremy Novick and Luke Weaver, 8-4.
- Zack Novick and Justin Panepinto won at No. 2 for the Shoremen, besting Pedro Andari and Leonardo Nakasone, 8-6. 

- The Shoremen won at the top two spots with Salisbury defeating Herrero, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 1 and Sandler downing Puig, 4-6, 6-2, 10-4, at No. 2. They also won at No. 4, thanks to a 6-4, 6-3, victory by Weaver over Nakasone.
- Winning the other three singles matches was enough to tilt the match in Bloomsburg's favor. Henrique Conrado Stemmer defeated Zack Novick, 6-1, 6-4, at No. 3, Williams defeated Jeremy Novick, 2-6, 6-2, 10-6, at No. 5, and Andari got the better of August Meriot, 6-0, 6-3, at No. 6.
