Z. Novick Posts Singles, Doubles Wins by Shutout

CHESTERTOWN, Md. — The host Washington College men's tennis team opened its dual-match schedule with a convincing 9-0 non-conference home win over visiting Catholic University today at Schottland Tennis Center.

- Zack Novick and Justin Panepinto gave the Shoremen a quick 1-0 lead with an 8-0 shutout of Ted Tiu and Jack Emerick at No. 2.
- Jeremy Novick and Matt Katz followed with an 8-2 victory for the Shoremen over Matt Pham and Kyle Weber at No. 3.
- Jake Sandler and Luke Weaver completed the doubles sweep with their 8-5 win against Jan Lasota and Rob Alexander at No. 1.

- Zack Novick completed an unblemished day for himself as he rolled past Alexander, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2 for a 4-0 Shoremen lead.
- Weaver clinched the victory for the Shoremen by completing a 6-1, 6-2, win against Tiu at No. 3.
- Niswander notched his first collegiate singles win at No. 6, dispatching of Pham, 6-2, 6-1.
- Jeremy Novick accounted for Washington's seventh point with his 6-2, 6-1, victory against Emerick at No. 4.
- August Meriot added a 6-3, 6-2, victory for the Shoremen at No. 5, defeating Weber.
- Sandler's 6-3, 6-0, win against Lasota at No. 1 was the last match to finish and completed the Shoremen's singles sweep. 

- Catholic, which played four dual matches in the fall, fell to 2-3 with the loss.
