CHESTERTOWN, Md. — After completing a highly-successful season at the Dad Vail Regatta last Friday and Saturday, the Washington College men's rowing team has announced its captains for the 2019-20 season. Brook Yimer (Arlington, Va./Wakefield) and Evan Koch (Marlton, N.J./Doane Academy) will return as captains, while Sean Curry (Wilmington, Del./Salesianum) will join them.
Yimer, who will be a senior in the fall, was named to the All Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference (All-MARC) varsity team for the second year in a row this spring, marking his third straight All-MARC honor. (He was named All-MARC novice in 2017.) He was also named the male recipient of the College's Elizabeth "Bo" Blanchard Memorial Sportsmanship Award last month. He has rowed in the Shoremen's varsity eight in each of his first three seasons and capped off the 2018-19 campaign with a silver medal in the men's quad at the Dad Vail Regatta. He had been a part of three crews to win Shoreman of the Week honors.
Joining Yimer in that silver medal-winning quad was Koch, who will be a junior in the fall. Koch qualified for the 2019 Academic All-MARC Team and rowed in the Shoremen's varsity eight each of his first two seasons. He has twice been a part of crews named Shoreman of the Week.
Curry, a sophomore next fall, had an impressive freshman season, rowing in the Shoremen's varsity eight and picking up 2019 All-MARC novice honors. He has received a pair of Shoreman of the Week honors and rowed in the first-place novice four at the Occoquan Challenge and the petite final-winning novice four at the Dad Vail.
