BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Washington College assistant men's rowing coach Daniel Hagelberg will serve as the Director of Rowing at the West Side Rowing Club in Buffalo, N.Y., this summer.
One of the oldest rowing clubs in the United States, West Side Rowing Club was established in 1912. Although started as a men's club, the West Side Rowing Club has a long tradition of youth rowing. In 1921, West Side started public high school rowing and was the first club in the country to sponsor public schools. Women's rowing started in 1978, and, as of now, the female rowers outnumber males. Over the years, West Side Rowers have represented the United States at the Olympics, Pan American Games, the World Youth Championships and the European Championships.
As Director of Rowing, Hagelberg will serve as the club's lead head coach. He will directly serve as head coach of the senior men's team, but will also oversee the head coaches of the club's junior men's, junior women's, and senior women's teams.
Hagelberg served in a similar capacity at Penn A.C. in Philadelphia, Pa., last summer and is excited to be back on the water this summer.
