Shorewomen Field Hockey Team, Student-Athletes Recognized for Academic Success by NFHCA

GLEN ALLEN, Va. — Eleven Washington College field hockey student-athletes have been named to the 2018 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Academic Squad, including two who were also named Scholars of Distinction. In addition, the Shorewomen have received an NFHCA Division III Academic Team Award. 

Student-athletes selected for the Academic Squad have been nominated by their coaches and have attained a minimum overall grade-point average of at least 3.30 through the first semester of the 2018-19 academic year. Student-athletes named as Scholars of Distinction have been nominated by their coaches and have attained a minimum overall grade-point average of at least 3.90 through the first semester of the 2018-19 academic year. Programs receiving an Academic Team Award achieved a team grade-point average of 3.0 or better.

Junior Jessie Willey (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) was named a Scholar of Distinction and qualified for the Academic Squad for the third year in a row, while sophomore Kailyn Brandt (White Hall, Md./Hereford) achieved both honors for second year in a row.

Seniors Olivia Auer (Forest Hill, Md./Bel Air) and Morgan Domanico (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) both qualified for the Academic Squad for the fourth year in a row. Seniors Clare Ingersoll (Chestertown, Md./Gunston School) and Sabrina Jenkins (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) and juniors Sophie Grabiec (Newport, Pa./Newport) and Abigail McGowan (Wilmington, Del./Padua Academy) were third-time qualifiers for the Academic Squad. Sophomores Megan Ritchey (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) and Parker Wolf (Reisterstown, Md./McDonogh School) qualified for the Academic Squad for the second straight year, while freshman Alyssa McGinnis (Middletown, Del./St. Georges Tech) was a first-time qualifier.
