Zwier Named Academic All-Centennial, Among Seven Shoremen on Academic Honor Roll

LANCASTER, Pa. — Junior catcher Ryan Zwier (Newark, Del./Christ School [N.C.]) has been named Academic All-Centennial Conference and is one of seven student-athletes from the Washington College baseball team to have qualified for the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll for spring sports.

In order to qualify for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must be a sophomore, junior or senior and carry at least a 3.40 cumulative grade-point average through the Fall 2018 semester.

Academic All-Centennial honors are bestowed upon student-athletes who are named All-Centennial Conference and earn a spot on the Academic Honor Roll in the same season. Zwier was named an All-Centennial Conference first-team selection earlier this month.

Among the Shoremen's seven Academic Honor Roll qualifiers are two three-time qualifiers: seniors Billy Benson (Bel Air, Md./Patterson Mill) and Nick Roberti (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield). Zwier is one of three two-time qualifiers, joining senior Matt Furlong (Howell, N.J./Howell) and junior Joe Otto (Middletown, Del./Appoquinimink). Sophomores Nick Brauer (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) and Mike Smith (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) are first-time qualifiers.

Zwier is a double major in Computer Science and Math, while Benson is an Economics and Business Management double major. Otto and Smith are Business Management majors, Brauer an Economics major, Furlong a History major, and Roberti a Political Science major.
