CHESTERTOWN, Md. — Washington College Director of Athletics Thad Moore has announced the hiring of Matt An as the College's new Head Athletic Trainer.
An comes to Washington College from Randolph-Macon College, where he had served as an assistant athletic trainer since February 2016. In that role, he worked primarily with the football, men's and women's swimming, and men's lacrosse teams. He also supervised and scheduled student work-study employees in the athletic training room and served as a clinical instructor for undergraduate athletic training students from other institutions during their internships.
Prior to his time at Randolph-Macon, An spent a little under three years as an athletic trainer at IMG Academy in Brandenton, Fla., working primarily with the Academy's football team as well as with golf, tennis, soccer, basketball, track and field, baseball, and lacrosse athletes. While obtaining his Master's of Science in Human Development and Leadership at Murray State University, An served as an athletic training graduate assistant for that school's baseball team and also assisted with the football team on game days.
An earned a Bachelor's of Science in Athletic Training from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, in May 2011. While an undergraduate student, An received clinical experience working with Miami's baseball, women's tennis, field hockey, football, and women's basketball teams. He also served as a Resident Assistant at Miami.
An has certifications from the American Safety and Health Institute for CPR/AED and for First Aid. He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association and the Virginia Athletic Trainer's Association.
