1, 2008 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Dickinson College hit .204 for the match as the Red Devils down host Washington College, 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-16), on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference volleyball action at the Cain Athletic Center. The Red Devils improve to 11-13 overall and 6-4 in the conference, while the Shorewomen close out the campaign at 11-18 and 0-10 respectively. In the first set, Washington led 20-14 before Dickinson netted 11 of the last 14 points to capture the set. The Red Devils trailed 23-22 before scoring the final three points to win the set closing the first set on a kill by Elitsha Gosheva. For Dickinson, Gosheva had team-bests of eight kills and nine digs. Kristen Lee had seven kills and seven digs, while Chelsea Winkert added seven kills in the triumph. Amanda Lehn had 26 assists to tie for the match-high and also served a match-best four aces, For Washington, freshman outside hitter Alyssa Forget (River Vale, NJ/Pascack Valley) tallied her first career double-double with a career-best 11 digs and a match-best 10 kills. Senior outside hitter Chelsea Crum (Newark, DE/Charter School of Wilmington) led all participants with 12 digs in her career finale. Senior defensive specialist Kay May (Stafford, VA/Colonial Forge) racked up 10 digs in her final match. Sophomore middle hitter Maria Whitman (Galesville, MD/Southern) led all players with two blocks. Junior setter Caitlin Ward (Wantagh, NY/Holy Trinity) tied Lehn for match-high in assists with 26. The
11 wins for the Shorewomen is the most since winning 14 matches in 2004. |
