Bears Rally Past Shorewomen, 5-4
Finnegan & Marshall Win in Singles, Doubles in Loss

COLLEGEVILLE, PA -- Host Ursinus College won at the bottom four singles spots to rally for a 5-4 Centennial Conference women's tennis victory over visiting Washington College this afternoon inside the Floy Lewis Bakes Fieldhouse. The Bears improved to 7-6 overall and 3-5 in Centennial Conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen fell to 13-3 and 6-2 with the loss.

Washington took a 2-1 lead after doubles play. Freshmen Brittany Marshall (Dagsboro, DE/Worcester Prep, MD) and Jordan Finnegan (Wilmington, DE/Archmere Academy) were 8-4 winners over Jenna Hope and Christina Lipe at No. 1, while sophomore Mary Kelley (Frederick, MD/Glenelg Country School) and senior Kate Barston (Darien, CT/Darien) defeated Jimena Talavera and Dana McDonough, 8-5, at No. 3. Ursinus won at No. 2 where Pam Odorizzi and Laura Ng topped freshman Gabie Batista (Sykesville, MD/Century) and junior Carrie Palmer (Dallas, TX/Greenhill School), 8-4.

The Shorewomen extended their lead to 4-2 by winning two of the first three singles matches to finish as Finnegan beat Hope, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 1 and Marshall bested Julia Kurtz, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 2. Ng topped Palmer, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 3 for Ursinus. The Bears then knotted the score at 4-4 by winning at No. 4, where Chloe Gifkins downed Barston, 6-4, 6-3, and at No. 6, as Odorizzi defeated Batista, 6-1, 7-5. Talavera won the match for Ursinus with a 7-5, 2-6, 1-0 (10-7) victory against Kelley at No. 5.

The Shorewomen return to action Friday with a 2:00 p.m. match at Salisbury.
