Shorewomen Clip Bullets, 7-2
Marshall, Finnegan Win Top Two Spots

GETTYSBURG, PA -- The Washington College women's tennis team improved to 10-2 overall and 2-1 in Centennial Conference matches with a 7-2 win over host Gettysburg College this afternoon in Gettysburg, PA.

Washington swept doubles as freshmen Brittany Marshall (Dagsboro, DE/Worcester Prep, MD) and Jordan Finnegan (Wilmington, DE/Archmere Academy) defeated Meghan Kelly and Katie Taylor, 8-1, at No. 1; freshman Gabie Batista (Sykesville, MD/Century) and junior Carrie Palmer (Dallas, TX/Greenhill School) downed Kelly Eurich and Candice Kashani, 8-3, at No. 2; and sophomore Mary Kelley (Frederick, MD/Glenelg Country School) and senior Kate Barston (Darien, CT/Darien) bested Kylle O'Sullivan and Laura Patterson, 8-4, at No. 3.

In singles, Marshall downed Taylor, 6-2, 7-6(4), at No. 1 and Finnegan beat Eurich, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 2. Washington also recorded wins at No. 4 and No. 6 singles as Kelley beat Kelly, 8-3, at No. 4 and Batista topped Mary McConnell, 8-2, at No. 6. Gettysburg won at No. 3 as Palmer retired against Kashani trailing, 4-0, and at No. 5 as O'Sullivan bested Barston, 8-5.

The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 3:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home match against Haverford.
