Shorewomen Roll Past Diplomats, 9-0
Washington Picks Up 12th Win of Season

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Host Washington College rolled to a 9-0 win over visiting Franklin & Marshall in a Centennial Conference women's tennis match this afternoon inside the Johnson Lifetime Fitness Center. The Shorewomen, who are ranked 12th in the Atlantic South region, improved to 12-2 overall and 4-1 in conference play with the win, while the Diplomats fell to 1-8 and 1-3 with the loss.

Freshmen Brittany Marshall (Dagsboro, DE/Worcester Prep, MD) and Jordan Finnegan (Wilmington, DE/Archmere Academy) cruised to an 8-0 win over Erica Wood and Kelsey Tylus at No. 1 doubles. Freshman Gabie Batista (Sykesville, MD/Century) and junior Carrie Palmer (Dallas, TX/Greenhill School) then completed an 8-6 win at No. 2 against Valeri Harteg and Danielle Russo. Sophomore Mary Kelley (Frederick, MD/Glenelg Country School) and senior Kate Barston (Darien, CT/Darien) finished off the doubles sweep for the Shorewomen with an 8-0 victory at No. 3 against Shannon Littlefield and Nicole Martino.

Washington clinched the match with a pair of quick victories at the top two singles spots as Finnegan shut out Wood, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 1 and Marshall downed Tylus, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 2. Palmer added an 8-3 win against Russo at No. 3, Kelley beat Harteg, 9-7, at No. 4, Barston downed Littlefield, 8-6, at No. 5, and Batista beat Martino, 8-1, at No. 6.

The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 3:30 p.m. Centennial Conference match at Swarthmore.
