#10 Eagles Best Shorewomen, 9-0
Two Singles Matches Go Three Sets

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Mary Washington, ranked 10th in Division III and fifth in the Atlantic South region, defeated host Washington College, ranked ninth in the Atlantic South, 9-0, in a women's tennis match this afternoon inside the Lifetime Fitness Center. The Eagles improved to 19-2 with the win, while the Shorewomen fell to 8-9 with the loss. Mary Washington's line-up featured two regionally-ranked doubles teams and six regionally-ranked singles players.

The Eagles took a 3-0 lead after doubles. The most competitive doubles match was at No. 1 where Becky Morse-Karzen and Stephanie Kurti, ranked seventh in the region, topped WC junior Allison Daciek (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) and freshman Kellie Foster (Lothian, MD/St. Mary's), the region's 27th-ranked doubles tandem, 8-5.

At No. 1 singles, Kurti, ranked 18th in the region, bested Daciek, ranked 31st, 6-4, 6-2. Two of the singles matches went three sets. Katie Miglin, ranked 30th in the region, downed WC sophomore Lydia Bull (Berkeley Heights, NJ/Kent Place School), 3-6, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 2. Morse-Karzen, ranked 26th in the region, defeated WC sophomore Kristen Hossick (Ashton, MD/Mount de Sales Academy), 2-6, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 3.

The Shorewomen conclude their regular season schedule Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home match against Muhlenberg. With a win on Saturday, Washington would qualify for the four-team Centennial Conference Playoffs.
