#29 Lions Blank Shorewomen, 9-0

EWING, NJ -- Host College of New Jersey, ranked 29th in Division III and eighth in the Northeast region, blanked visiting Washington College, the Atlantic South region's ninth-ranked team, 9-0, in a women's tennis match this evening in Ewing, NJ. The Lions improved to 7-0 with the win, while the Shorewomen dropped their season opener.

Jackie Shtemburg, ranked ninth in the Northeast, posted a 6-1, 6-1 win over WC junior Allison Daciek (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) at No. 1 singles and teamed with Christina Contrafatto to record an 8-0 win over Daciek and freshman Kellie Foster (Lothian, MD/St. Mary's) at No. 1 doubles. Shtemburg and Contrafatto are ranked third in doubles in the Northeast.

The most competitive singles match came at No. 5, where Stefanie Haar was a 6-4, 6-3, winner over freshman Carrie Palmer (Dallas, TX/Greenhill School). The closest doubles match was at No. 2, where Sarah Roser and Kristen Turturiello topped sophomores Kristen Hossick (Ashton, MD/Mount de Sales Academy) and Kate Barston (Darien, CT/Darien), 8-6.

The Shorewomen return to action March 4th with a pair of matches at Salisbury. Washington will play NYU at 9:00 a.m. and Salisbury at 2:00 p.m.
