#15 Hopkins Tops Shorewomen, 7-2
Daciek & Foster Win at No. 1 Doubles

BALTIMORE, MD -- Host Johns Hopkins University, the 15th-ranked team in Division III and seventh-ranked team in the Atlantic South region, bested visiting Washington College, the ninth-ranked team in the region, 7-2, in a Centennial Conference women's tennis match today in Baltimore. The Blue Jays improved to 11-2 overall and 7-0 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen fell to 6-8 and 4-3 with the loss.

Hopkins won at both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to take a 2-1 lead in the match. Washington junior Allison Daciek (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) and freshman Kellie Foster (Lothian, MD/St. Mary's), the region's 27th-ranked doubles tandem, bested Brittany Matava and Debbie Blass, 9-7, at No. 1.

The Blue Jays posted five more wins in singles. Matava, ranked 11th in the region, topped Daciek, ranked 31st, 7-5, 4-6, 6-1, at No. 1. Three other regionally-ranked Blue Jay singles players also posted wins. Washington's singles win came at No. 5, where sophomore Kristen Hossick (Ashton, MD/Mount de Sales Academy), ranked 52nd in the region, was a 6-7(4), 6-4, 11-9, winner over Becky Busch.

The Shorewomen return to action Friday when they host Gettysburg in a Centennial Conference match at 3:30 p.m.
