7, 2006 WESTMINSTER, MD -- Visiting Washington College posted an 8-1 victory over host McDaniel College in a Centennial Conference women's tennis match this afternoon in Westminster, MD. The Shorewomen improved to 10-3 overall and 5-0 in Centennial play with the win. Sophomore Allison Daciek (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) and freshman Kristen Hossick (Ashton, MD/Mount de Sales Academy) cruised to an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles. Washington also won at No. 2 doubles as sophomore Blake Leeser (Irvington, NY/Irvington) and freshman Kate Barston (Darien, CT/Darien) were winners by an 8-2 count. McDaniel's Katie Siebel and Helen Brooks recorded an 8-3 win at No. 3 to account for the Green Terror's point in the match. Daciek, who is ranked 16th in the region in singles, was a 6-2, 6-0, winner at No. 1 singles, while Hossick recorded a 6-1, 6-0, win at No. 2. Leeser added a 6-1, 6-3, win at No. 3, while sophomore Ryoko Sawada (Kushiro, Japan/Kushiro Koryo) won at No. 4, 6-2, 6-1. Sophomore Brittany Borden (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Carroll) contributed a 6-2, 6-2, victory at No. 5 and freshman Rebecca Davis (Maplewood, NJ/Columbia) recorded a 6-1, 6-1. The Shorewomen return to action tomorrow with a 12:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home match against Franklin & Marshall. |
