Shorewomen Dismiss Fords, 8-1
WC Remains Unbeaten in Centennial Play

HAVERFORD, PA -- Visiting Washington College, the eighth-ranked team in the Atlantic South region, defeated host Haverford, 8-1, in a Centennial Conference match this afternoon in Haverford, PA. The Shorewomen improved to 9-3 overall and 4-0 in conference play with the win, while the Fords fell to 7-5 and 2-2.

Washington swept doubles to take a 3-0 lead in the match and improve to 12-0 in conference doubles matches this spring. Sophomore Allison Daciek (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) and senior Beth Foster (Lothian, MD/St. Mary's), the 10th-ranked doubles team in the Atlantic South, pulled out a 9-8(5) win over Allyson Scherb and Alexandra Glickman at No. 1 singles. Freshman Kristen Hossick (Ashton, MD/Mount de Sales Academy) and freshman Lydia Bull (Berkeley Heights, NJ/Kent Place School) added an 8-4 win at No. 2, while sophomore Blake Leeser (Irvington, NY/Irvington) and freshman Kate Barston (Darien, CT/Darien) cruised to an 8-0 win at No. 3.

Laura Chaddock scored Haverford's only point of the match with a 1-6, 6-3, 6-2, win over WC sophomore Allison Daciek (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park), the 16th-ranked singles player in the region, at No. 1 singles. Bull won at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 4-6, 10-8. The Shorewomen won the other four doubles matches in straight sets. Hossick was a 6-2, 6-4, winner at No. 3, Leeser posted a 6-1, 6-2, victory at No. 4, Foster recorded a 6-0, 6-3, win at No. 5, and sophomore Ryoko Sawada (Kushiro, Japan/Kushiro Koryo) won 6-2, 6-1, at No. 6.

The Shorewomen return to action Friday with a 3:30 p.m. Centennial Conference match at McDaniel.
