| April 1, 2006 GETTYSBURG, PA -- Visiting Washington College won all three doubles matches and posted wins in four of the six singles contests in a 7-2 Centennial Conference women's tennis victory over host Gettysburg College this afternoon. The Shorewomen, ranked eighth in the Atlantic South region, improved to 6-3 overall and 2-0 in conference play with the win. Washington sophomore Allison Daciek (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) and senior Beth Foster (Lothian, MD/St. Mary's), the 10th-ranked doubles team in the region, were 8-2 winners at No. 1 doubles. Freshman Lydia Bull (Berkeley Heights, NJ/Kent Place School) and sophomore Blake Leeser (Irvington, NY/Irvington) posted an 8-3 win at No. 2, while freshman Kristen Hossick (Ashton, MD/Mount de Sales Academy) and senior Lyndsey Beidle (Linthicum, MD/North County) recorded an 8-5 victory at No. 3. Daciek, ranked 16th in the region in singles, pulled out a 1-6, 6-3, 7-6(5) win over Sara Marian Seibert at No. 1 singles. Bull added a 6-1, 7-6(1) win at No. 2, while Hossick posted a 6-4, 6-1, win at No. 4 and Leeser rallied for a 1-6, 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 5. "We fought well like we always do in some pretty windy conditions," remarked Washington head coach Constantine Ananiadis. "We made a nice comeback in singles after trailing in several singles matches early on." The Shorewomen host Cecil Community College tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. and Centennial Conference rival Ursinus at 2:00 p.m. |
