12, 2004 LEXINGTON, VA -- The Washington College women's tennis team fell to host Washington and Lee, the second ranked team in Division III and in the Atlantic South Region, by an 8-1 final this afternoon in Lexington, VA. The Shorewomen slipped to 3-2 on the season with the loss. Senior Ne'ko Browder (Bronx, NY/Herbert H. Lehman) accounted for the Shorewomen's point in the loss, posting a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles over Kristen McClung. Head coach Constantine Ananiadis was positive about the team's three-match swing through Virginia this week, which included a 6-3 loss to regionally-ranked Hollins and a 5-4 win over regionally-ranked Sweet Briar. "We gained a lot of experience from this trip. We played two close matches and pulled out a win in one of them and took on a highly-ranked team in Washington and Lee. We also had the opportunity to play several plays and different doubles combinations. I was happy with out effort. It was a good trip." The Shorewomen, tied for eighth in the Atlantic South regional rankings, return to action Wednesday as they open their Centennial Conference schedule with a 3:30 p.m. home match against Ursinus.
