19, 2003 NEWPORT NEWS, VA -- Washington College senior women's tennis players Shoko Nakamura (Osaka, Japan/Osaka Jogakuin) and Ne'ko Browder (Bronx, NY/Herbert H. Lehman) competed at the Old Point National Bank ITA Invitational, held Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in Newport News, VA. All of their opponents at the event were from Division I schools. Browder and Nakamura reached the semifinals in Flight B-2 Doubles. In the first round, they beat Maricel Ballester and Katie Sloper of George Mason, 8-3. They won their quarterfinal match against Ewa Kleczek and Flaminia Migone of Norfolk State by default, but then fell to Emily Applegate and Patty Devlin of Richmond, 8-4. In singles, Browder won her opening match in Flight C-1 against Elena Branker of Howard, 7-5, 6-4, but was then eliminated in the quarterfinals. Nakamura lost her first match in Flight C-2 Singles, but bounced back to win two consolation matches before falling in the consolation final. WC Match Results
