20, 2004 WESTMINSTER, MD -- The Washington College women's tennis team improved to 8-8 overall with a 7-2 Centennial Conference win over host McDaniel College this afternoon. The Shorewomen finish their 2004 Centennial dual match schedule with a 5-5 conference record. The Shorewomen swept doubles against the Green Terror. Playing together for the first time, senior Ne'ko Browder (Bronx, NY/Herbert H. Lehman) and sophomore Jaclyn Moore (Wenonah, NJ/Gateway Regional) posted an 8-1 win at No. 1, while junior Samantha Halpin (Red Lion, PA/Red Lion) and sophomore Lyndsey Beidle (Linthicum, MD/North County) were 8-6 winners at No. 2. Senior Shoko Nakamura (Osaka, Japan/Osaka Jogakuin) and junior Marisa Lombardo (New York City, NY/Marymount School) cruised to an 8-0 win at No. 3. Washington also won the top four flights in singles play. Nakamura scored a 6-1, 6-1, win at No. 1, Halpin recorded a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 2, and Moore was a 6-4, 6-2 winner at No. 3. Sophomore Sara Custis (Owings, MD/Northern) added a 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 4. The Shorewomen close out their dual match schedule tomorrow with a 3:30 p.m. home match against Salisbury.
