19, 2004 BRYN MAWR, PA -- The Washington College women's tennis team pulled out a 5-4 road win over Bryn Mawr this afternoon to improve to 7-8 overall and 4-5 in the Centennial Conference this season. The Shorewomen won two of the three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead over the Owls. Senior Ne'ko Browder (Bronx, NY/Herbert H. Lehman) and junior Samantha Halpin (Red Lion, PA/Red Lion) were 8-1 winners at No. 1, while senior Shoko Nakamura (Osaka, Japan/Osaka Jogakuin) and junior Marisa Lombardo (New York City, NY/Marymount School) cruised to an 8-1 victory at No. 3. In singles play, Washington won another three flights to secure the dual match victory. Browder posted a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1, while sophomore Sara Custis (Owings, MD/Northern) notched a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 6. Nakamura won in three sets at No. 2, recording a 6-1, 6-7(5), 6-1 victory. The Shorewomen close out their Centennial Conference dual match schedule tomorrow with a 2:30 p.m. match at McDaniel.
