27, 2003 BALTIMORE, MD -- The Washington College women's tennis team improved to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the Centennial Conference with a 6-3 win at Johns Hopkins this afternoon. Juniors Ne'ko Browder (Bronx, NY/Herbert H. Lehman) and Shoko Nakamura (Osaka, Japan/Osaka Jogakuin) remained unbeaten this spring at No. 1 doubles, with an 8-1 win at that spot. The Shorewomen also won at No. 2 doubles, where senior Devon Hufnal (Dover, DE/Dover) and sophomore Samantha Halpin (Red Lion, PA/Red Lion) posted a 9-7 win. In singles, Browder won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1, while Nakamura and Hufnal won by identical 6-1, 6-0 scores at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Halpin rallied for a 2-6, 7-5, (10-4) win at No. 6. The Shorewomen play at 23rd-ranked Mary Washington Sunday.
