Moore Breaks Pool Record in 50 Freestyle

CHESTERTOWN, MD - Visiting Gettysburg College won six of 11 events to post a 123-82 Centennial Conference women's swimming victory over host Washington College this afternoon at Casey Swim Center. The Shorewomen (3-1 overall, 1-1 Centennial Conference) got two individual first-place finishes each from sophomore Rachel Glasser (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook) and freshman Jenna Moore (Catonsville, MD/Mount de Sales), who broke the pool record in the 50 freestyle, in the loss.

Glasser won the 200 freestyle in 1:59.34 and the 200 butterfly in 2:11.65. Moore's winning time of 24.75 in the 50 freestyle broke the pool record and made her the Shorewomen's third-fastest swimmer ever in that event. She also won the 200 breaststroke in 2:33.94 to become Washington's sixth-fastest swimmer ever in that event.

The Shorewomen also won the 400 medley relay as senior Kimber Shoemaker (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga), Moore, junior Kathy Gerhart (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville Area), and Glasser completed the race in 4:10.06.

Gerhart was second in both the 200 individual medley (2:21.98) and 100 freestyle (56.49). Freshman Kelly Dunbar (Williamsburg, VA/Lafayette) was second to Moore in the 20 breaststroke, finishing in 2:34.18 to become Washington's seventh-fastest swimmer ever in that event. Her third-place time of 11:04.38 in the 1000 freestyle made her the Shorewomen's sixth-fastest swimmer in that event.

The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 6:00 p.m. non-conference meet at Salisbury.
