Win 12 Dual Meets For The First Time Since 2001-02

CHESTERTOWN, MD - Host Washington College nipped visiting Swarthmore College, 104-101, in Centennial Conference women's swimming on Wednesday night at the Casey Swim Center in the final dual meet for both teams this season. The Shorewomen finish 12-1 overall and 6-1 in conference dual meets, while the Garnet conclude the dual meet season at 6-5 overall and 4-3 in conference.

The 12 dual meet victories is the most for the Shorewomen since a 12-0 dual meet record in 2001-02. The win for Washington was its first against Swarthmore since a 122-83 triumph on February 11, 2004.

Washington led 100-88 going into the final event, the 400 freestyle relay. The relay team of sophomore Cailin Eisele (Egg Harbor Township, NJ/Egg Harbor Township), sophomore Amy Smith (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville Area), junior Anna Green (St. Louis, MO/Principia) and senior Nicole Stanton (Columbia, MD/Hammond) finished second with a time of 3:51.66 to clinch the victory for the Shorewomen.

Senior Megan Morse (Easton, MD/Sts. Peter and Paul) won the 200 individual medley (2:14.69) and the 500 freestyle (5:18.87). Sophomore Kathy Gerhart (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville Area) captured victories in the 50 freestyle (25.36) and the 100 freestyle (55.90). Freshman Rachel Glasser (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook) took home victory in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:00.13. The 400 medley relay team of Smith, sophomore Liz Thomas (Towson, MD/Notre Dame Prep), Gerhart and Morse captured first place with a time of 4:11.58.

Glasser garnered second in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 11:03.29. Other second place finishers were junior Kimber Shoemaker (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga) in the 200 backstroke (2:19.57) and senior Nicole Ludwig (Brielle, NJ/Manasquan) in the 200 breaststroke (2:37.26)

The Shorewomen will compete at the Centennial Conference Championships February 22th-24th in Lancaster, PA hosted by Franklin & Marshall.
