Shorewomen Deport Diplomats, 128-77
Morse Sets School Record In 100 Freestyle and Wins Two Events for WC

CHESTERTOWN, MD - Senior Megan Morse (Easton, MD/Sts. Peter and Paul) set the Washington College record in the 100 freestyle with a time of 53.66 seconds in the leadoff leg of the 400 freestyle relay as the Shorewomen downed visiting Franklin & Marshall, 128-77, in Centennial Conference women's swimming action on Saturday afternoon at the Casey Swim Center. It is the first victory for Washington (6-1, 2-1 CC) over the Diplomats since a 137-73 triumph on November 17, 2001.

Morse also won two individual events on the afternoon. She won the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:14.01, which is third-fastest ever by a WC swimmer and a season-best time by a Shorewomen swimmer. She also captured the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:16.57.

Freshman Rachel Glasser (Silver Spring, MD/Silverbrook) captured three events in the victory. She won the 1000 freestyle (10:58.77), the 200 freestyle (2:00.76) and the 200 butterfly (2:13.09).

Sophomore Kathy Gerhart (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville Area) won two events against the Diplomats. She won the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.46 seconds and the 100 freestyle with a mark of 56.03 seconds. Her 25.46 seconds is a season-best time for a WC swimmer.

Senior Nicole Ludwig (Brielle, NJ/Manasquan) captured the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:35.55.

The Shorewomen won eight of nine individual events and won both relays versus Franklin & Marshall (3-5, 1-2 CC). The lone victory for the Diplomats was in the 200 backstroke.

The Shorewomen return to action on January 5 at the Orange Bowl Swim Classic down in Key Largo, FL.
