October 8, 2007 CHESTERTOWN, MD - The Washington College swim teams held their annual triathlon to raise money for the fight against cancer on Saturday. The triathlon consisted of an 1,000-yard swim, an 11-mile bike ride, and a two-mile run. Freshman Matt Violette (Westbrook, ME/Westbrook) was the top male finisher in the triathlton, followed by sophomore Dylan Pollock (Savannah, GA/Benedictine Military) in second and freshman Tim Beadell (Timonium, MD/Loyola Blakefield) in third. Junior Cara Choplin (West Deptford, NJ/Bishop Eustace) was the top female finisher, followed by freshman Rachel Glasser (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook) in second and junior Brittany Siburt (Stevensville, MD/Kent Island) in third. In all, 32 Washington College swimmers took part in the event, which has raised over $1,700 in donations thus far.
