2007 SWARTHMORE, PA - Host Swarthmore College topped visiting Washington College, 107-98, in Centennial Conference women's swimming Wednesday night. Junior Megan Morse (Easton, MD/Sts. Peter & Paul) recorded a pair of individual first-place finishes in the loss for the Shorewomen (9-4, 3-4 Centennial). Morse won the 200 freestyle in a WC season-best time of 1:59.72 and the 100 freestyle in 55.56. Senior Ally Simons (Camp Hill, PA/Cumberland Valley) added a victory in the 200 individual medley in a WC season-best time of 2:16.77, while senior Liz Shoemaker (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga) won the 200 backstroke in 2:13.27. The Shorewomen also won both relay events. Shoemaker, freshman Liz Thomas (Towson, MD/Notre Dame Prep), freshman Kathy Gerhart (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville), and Simons won the 400 medley relay in a WC season-best time of 4:08.21. Gerhart, Shoemaker, Morse, and senior Caitlin Auger (McLean, VA/McLean) won the 400 freestyle relay in 3:45.13. Senior Erin Jones (Crofton, MD/Arundel) was second in the 1000 freestyle in 11:27.68. Gerhart became Washington's fourth all-time fastest swimmer in the 200 butterfly with her third-place and WC season-best time of 2:12.14. Gerhart trails three All-Americans on Washington's top times list for the 200 butterfly. The Shorewomen will compete at the Centennial Conference Championships February 16th-18th.
