Shorewomen Pick Up Two Wins
Washington Defeats St. Mary's, Randolph-Macon

ST. MARY'S CITY, MD - The Washington College women's swimming team swept both ends of a double-dual meet against St. Mary's (MD) and Randolph-Macon this afternoon in St. Mary's City, MD. Washington beat St. Mary's, 131-74, and topped Randolph-Macon, 111-94. The Shorewomen improved to 3-2 on the year with the pair of victories.

Freshman Kathy Gerhart (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville Area) finished first in the 100 butterfly against both opponents, winning the race in a WC season-best time of 1:00.94 and become Washington's sixth-fastest swimmer ever in the event. Senior Ally Simons (Camp Hill, PA/Cumberland Valley) won the 200 individual medley against both opponents in 2:18.15. Junior Megan Morse (Easton, MD/Sts. Peter & Paul) was a winner against both opponents in the 100 freestyle, taking the race in a WC season-best time of 55.91. Morse also finished first against St. Mary's and second against Randolph-Macon in the 200 freestyle in 2:02.44.

Senior Erin Jones (Crofton, MD/Arundel) was a double winner against St. Mary's, taking the 1000 freestyle (WC season-best time of 11:28.46) and the 500 freestyle (5:40.20) against the Seahawks. Senior Liz Shoemaker (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga) won the 100 backstroke against Randolph-Macon in 1:01.37. Shoemaker added a second-place finish in the 200 freestyle against St. Mary's in 2:02.95.

Freshman Liz Thomas (Towson, MD/Notre Dame Prep) was second against both opponents in the 100 breaststroke in a WC season-best time of 1:13.45. Other second-place finishes against St. Mary's were turned in by sophomore Brittany Siburt (Stevensville, MD/Kent Island) in the 1000 freestyle (11:47.34), senior Caitlin Auger (McLean, VA/McLean) in the 200 individual medley (2:23.96), and sophomore Cara Choplin (West Deptford, NJ/Bishop Eustace) in the 500 freestyle (5:43.28).

Washington won both relays against both Randolph-Macon and St. Mary's. Liz Shoemaker, Thomas, Gerhart, and Morse won the 200 medley relay in a WC season-best time of 1:54.49. Auger, freshman Cailin Eisele (Egg Harbor Township, NJ/Egg Harbor Township), senior Kimmy Kraeer (Denton, MD/North Caroline), and Gerhart won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:44.13.

The Shoremen return to action November 28th with a 6:00 p.m. home meet against Widener.
