Shorewomen Sink McDaniel, 122-75
Seven WC Swimmers Win Individual Events

CHESTERTOWN, MD - Seven different swimmers won individual events for host Washington College as the Shorewomen defeated visiting McDaniel College, 122-75, in a Centennial Conference women's swim meet this afternoon at Casey Swim Center. The Shorewomen improved to 9-3 overall and 3-3 in the Centennial Conference with the victory.

Seniors Ally Simons (Camp Hill, PA/Cumberland Valley), Liz Shoemaker (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga), Erin Jones (Crofton, MD/Arundel), and Caitlin Auger (McLean, VA/McLean) each won one individual event in their final home collegiate meet. Simons won the 200 individual medley in a WC season-best time of 2:17.71, Shoemaker won the 100 backstroke in 1:02.48, Jones won the 1000 freestyle in 11:36.70, and Auger won the 50 freestyle in 26.32. Jones also turned in the fastest time in the 500 freestyle (5:41.93) while swimming as an exhibition. Auger added a second-place finish in the 100 freestyle in 57.56.

Freshman Kathy Gerhart (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville) won the 100 butterfly in a WC season-best time of 1:00.45. Junior Nicole Stanton (Columbia, MD/Hammond) finished first in the 200 freestyle (2:06.25), while junior Megan Morse (Easton, MD/Sts. Peter & Paul) was first in the 100 freestyle (56.39).

Washington's team of Shoemaker, Morse, Gerhart, and Simons won the 200 medley relay in 1:55.64. Gerhart, freshman Cailin Eisele (Egg Harbor Township, NJ/Egg Harbor Township), Auger, and Morse turned in the fastest time in the 200 freestyle relay (1:44.87) as an exhibition.

Freshman Amy Smith (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville Area) was second in both the 200 freestyle (2:07.53) and the 100 backstroke (1:03.78). Senior Kimmy Kraeer (Denton, MD/North Caroline) finished second in the 50 freestyle (26.91) in her final home meet, while sophomore Anna Green (St. Louis, MO/Principia) was second in the 1000 freestyle (11:39.20) and Eisele was second in the 100 butterfly (1:04.70).

The Shorewomen close out their dual meet schedule Wednesday with a 6:00 p.m. Centennial Conference meet at Swarthmore.
